In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for the alleged killing of a 70-year-old woman during a confrontation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. The incident occurred when the deceased's son, Bijendra Kumar, had a dispute with the accused, Majid, who resides in the same neighborhood. An official stated that the woman, Ramvati Devi, got involved to defend her son, and during the argument, Majid pushed her, leading to her falling and sustaining fatal injuries. Abhishek Srivastava, ACP of Kavi Nagar, mentioned that Bijendra resided with his brother and mother in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna in Madhuban Bapudham. The altercation took place around 12.30 am on Sunday, with Majid, an e-rickshaw driver under the influence of alcohol, sitting outside the Kumar residence. The argument was triggered when Bijendra questioned Majid's presence there. Ramvati tried to intervene to defuse the situation but ended up getting pushed by Majid, causing her to hit her head near her eyes and sustain serious injuries. Despite being taken to the hospital, doctors pronounced her dead. Ramvati's body underwent a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been lodged at Madhuban Bapudham police station under relevant sections of the law. The accused was presented in court and has been placed in judicial custody.
